"Baihetan" completed the installation of the world's first 16MW offshore wind turbine
On June 28, the world's first 16-megawatt offshore wind turbine was hoisted successfully in the northern waters of Fujian Province. After the project is completed and put into operation, it will become the world's largest single-capacity offshore wind turbine that has been put into operation. This marks that my country's offshore wind power has achieved an important breakthrough in high-end equipment manufacturing capabilities and deep sea offshore wind power construction capabilities, reaching the international leading level.
It is understood that the implementation of this project is the "Baihetan" wind power installation platform built for the China Three Gorges Corporation by Huangpu Wenchong Company, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation. The platform was delivered on September 28, 2022. It is the first wind power installation platform in my country that meets the functional standards of the fourth-generation sea wind equipment and realizes the integrated comprehensive construction requirements of self-elevating, self-propelled, and deep-sea. Working in the sea area of Yangjiang, Guangdong, its excellent construction quality has been recognized by the user.
The hoisting of 16 MW offshore wind turbines has high requirements on construction ships. The project construction party selected all domestic offshore construction ships and transferred from the coast of Guangdong Province the world's first 2,000-ton fourth-generation offshore wind power installation platform invested and built by China Three Gorges Corporation ——"White Crane Beach". "The hoisting construction environment is harsh, with strong winds and waves all year round, thick silt-like strata on the seabed surface of the project sea area, low bearing capacity, large structural size and heavy weight of the fan unit, and more than 10 large-scale hoisting times, which is suitable for hoisting in this sea area. The number of installation ships for such large-capacity wind turbines is limited, and the 'Baihetan' is the most suitable." said Wang Huaigang, the technical director of the "Baihetan" of the Three Gorges Material Tendering Company.
The 16 MW offshore wind turbine adopts a four-pile jacket fan foundation, with a hub center height of 152 meters; the combined weight of the engine room and generator is 385 tons; the blade is 123 meters long, and a single blade weighs 54 tons; the sweeping area of the impeller is about 50,000 square meters rice. According to calculations based on years of wind measurement data in this sea area, a single unit can output more than 66 million kWh of clean electricity per year, which can meet the annual living electricity consumption of 36,000 households of three, save about 22,000 tons of standard coal, reduce Emission of carbon dioxide is about 54,000 tons.
The "Baihetan" is known as the "Optimus Prime of the Sea". Its DP2-level dynamic positioning system can enable the operator to "despite the wind and waves and keep steady" "Sitting on the Diaoyutai" has greatly improved the safety, economy and convenience of construction operations in deep and open seas. This installation has fully verified this superiority.
At around 3 am on the 24th, the "Baihetan" sailed to the installation position of the 16MW wind turbine, and then inserted the legs into the seabed. The hoisting began on June 25th, and the hoisting was successfully completed on June 28th.
It is reported that the 16 MW offshore wind turbines that have been hoisted will enter the intensive debugging and testing stage before grid connection.
